I’ve only taken one aptitude test — in elementary school. The profession for which I was best suited? Clerk.
Perhaps this is due to my affinity for classification. I’ve always been obsessed with sorting, with creating and stuffing pigeon holes, whether it was cars and birds (’80s) or music and typefaces (’90s–today). That’s why I love to see projects like Exactitudes — Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek’s scientific, anthropological record of fashion and identity.
