All those prone to worry need not. This is just a quick entry to say I’m safe in Stockholm. Expect more detailed updates as I get better access to the Web. Thanks to all for your help in getting me here. I’m a very happy lad.

Packed my bags last night. Contents:

• socks
• underwear
• Canon PowerShot S400 which will be used to populate “View Some Stewf” with images of the voyage
• 2 essential books: Robert Bringhurst’s Elements of Typographic Style and the big yellow Font Book
• 32 sweaters

Off Deep End

I leave in less than 36 hours. Haven’t packed. Haven’t said goodbye to anyone. Haven’t bought a Powerbook. Haven’t learned Swedish. Good luck to me.

Behold the Swedish Work Permit/Visa affixed and stamped into my passport with authority. Such a simple thing delayed my departure for more than a month, but when it finally arrived I was impressed with its ornate, iridescent beauty.
